Just reporting on our 65+ team tactics and results this weekend.

Saturday was the first non-cold weekend and Cliff, Steve and I were happy to actually warm up. Usually we try to warm up and end being colder than when we started. Before the race started Steve recogized a fast 65+ Charles Griffith (not surprisingly he knew and mentioned he had ridden with Dave Viney). It was decided that it was important that He not win, and I readily agreed to mark him since I know Cliff and Steve had better sprints than myself. With three to go I got on The Canadian wheel until about 300 yds. to go before the finish when he started to faulter. Just as I was going to get off the saddle, Cliff came roaring past and Cliff got 1st 65 (about 6th in the 55 category) myself 2nd and the Canadian third. The injured Steve Agronick got 4th (he has had only about6 hours of quality traing since his Achilles and knee problems.

Sunday it was decided to let the Canadian alone and simply stay up front in the 55+ to avoid crashes and poor bike handling. That we did; but we did not discuss primes since he haven't had any yet this year. Surprise, on the 12th of 17 laps they announced a prime for 65+. Cliff and I had no idea where the Canadian was so we just worked to the front before the finish and were looking at each other to decide who felt the best or wnated to go. Unfortunately the Canadian was on both our wheels, accelerated past and before we could act had gotten the prime. We had a short discussion after that and decided the hell with that and just lowered our heads and stayed with the leaders the rest of the way. We dropped the Canadian and most of the 55+ and I nipped Cliff at the finish.

Steve finished 4th not far back, but just wait until Steve has 4 weeks without injury, and chaos at work and Cliff and I will be following Steve over the finish line.
